You are completely right anon - signups for the DCJ Hiatus Indulgence open today, and this mod just completely forgot to put out the link. Getting to it now!
fpwoper asked:
Great question! There is an AO3 collection - when posting your fic, go to “Post to Collections / Challenges” and search for “DCJ Hiatus Indulgence.” This goes for art posted on AO3 for the collection, too!

It’s totally up to you - the art captions are completely optional and up to the artist’s discretion. If you’d like to do a description of the picture, a mini story, or just a tagline (or nothing at all!), we completely support your decision!

We won’t be doing tag lists through the @dcjbigbang blog, but if you get in contact with the author @blue-reveries I’m sure she’d be happy to start one!

Good question! Information will come out this weekend about promos. We’ll be running promos until the end of October. You don’t have to be done writing/drawing to do promos - it’s encouraged, but there’s still almost a whole month before posting ends, so there’s time to finish up!
When we post about promos, we’ll let you know what we’re looking for and how to submit it. We’ll also tag participants to hopefully make sure everyone gets to see the message!
fpwoper asked:
We’ll be sending out more detailed promo information either at the end of this week or early next week. However, for artists and authors, here’s the information we’ll be looking for:
Artists: For artwork, you can include a sample of your work (such as a rough sketch or a cropped part of your finished work), OR a written caption of your piece.
Authors: For stories, you can include a banner if you like (contact the mods if you would like help constructing one). The promo can also include your summary and/or a short excerpt (less than 500 words).
wideawakeandwriting asked:
The only real requirements we have for this challenge are that it’s a minimum of 1k/one art piece and that it’s set in a historical time period. Other than that, any other decisions are up to the participant’s discretion.
If you’d like to include details that are specifically historically inaccurate - like having a progressive Victorian AU that doesn’t have a stigma against same sex relationships OR if you wanted to include fantasy elements like dragons in a Medieval AU - then go for it! We don’t want to stifle anyone’s creativity, and the mods are curious to see what fantasy elements you include.
Since the focus of the challenge is historical periods, as long as you’ve clearly set your story in some sort of “past” era, then other details for worldbuilding are up to you.
Hope this answers your question!

Since this isn’t a challenge with paired artist/author claims and collaboration, our check-ins are more relaxed. Even when the final draft is due, we’ll just be touching base with both artists and authors to make sure you’re done (or very near done). We know it’s helpful to have deadlines in planning out when to start your work, and that’s really what that September date is for. You can of course continue to work up until you actually post during that October window.
For promos, we will be doing short blurbs for both artwork and stories. For stories, you can include a banner if you want, otherwise it will be your summary and a short excerpt. For artwork, you can include a sample of your work (such as a rough sketch or a cropped part of your finished work), otherwise it will be a written caption of your art.
We’ll have more detailed information about check-ins and about promos once we get to those points (we’re still working out some of the details ourselves), but hopefully this helps give a general overview of what to expect from both. If not, please feel free to ask!
anon asked: IF I’VE GOT A COMMISSIONED PIECE OF ART FROM SOMEONE CAN I USE IT FOR ONE OF MY DCJBB FICS?
So the admins have talked and decided that since part of Big Bangs is collaborating with others, any art you’re incorporating into your fic should be from artists who have signed up for the bang.
HOWEVER… commissioned art is of course welcomed (even encouraged) for secondary fics i(i.e. if you plan on writing more than one fic).
