bold-sartorial-statement asked:
You seem distressed by this age old trend of advertising entertainment before it comes out in order to build hype. While we here at the DCJ Big Bang are very understanding that it can be frustrating that the author did not submit a posting date or date range when they submit their works to us, we also would appreciate it if you were kind enough to maybe just leave a note on the post asking about the date range.
We also understand that it can be difficult to wait for quality content, but these authors and artists work incredibly hard on the very free content that they post for others entertainment. They deserve to have their work promoted to build hype so that people will want to read it or see it. Many bangs and challenges do this, it is a very common practice.
Considering that the content is free and the artists and authors and putting their own time into it, and the three mods running this blog are also very busy, it would be appreciated if the lack of a small thing such a posting date or “coming soon” announcement on the promo post could be forgiven by those who would like to read it later.
Again, we are all busy, and we are all doing this for free.
What we are doing here is no different than the hype of a movie trailer, or a TV show, or even a new chapter teaser for another book in a series that will be coming out in a year’s time. If what the author or artist has created is something that appeals to you, we strongly encourage you to make a note of it to come back to see/read it later. If you wish to know the exact posting date, or in the case of the DCJ Hiatus Indulgence Challenge, posting range, then by all means leave a polite inquiry with us, ask in the notes, or even politely ask the author/artist of said creation.
We would like to impress upon all our followers that it was never our intention to be “really rude” it was a simple matter that was overlooked. We would also like to point out that the posting date range was announced when the challenge was announced as well and is easily found under the rules.
If anyone was curious to know the posting range for all creations of this challenge here it is: October 1-12 — Open posting begins. Submit your masterpost to the DCJBB Blog at any time during this period.
We appreciate your interest in the artists and authors creations and are sure the authors and artists do too. We hope that this clears everything up for you for this and future challenges we will be running on this blog. We will also make every effort to attempt to communicate better in the future. Remember, communication is key.
